Xorcom Upgrades Asterisk IP-PBX for Small Businesses

Xorcom has released its new and improved, complete Asterisk-based VoIP PBX for small businesses, the XR1000.

Xorcom says the XR1000 is an Asterisk-based PBX system supporting various combinations of FXS, FXO and BRI ISDN telephony ports, for a total of up to 16 analog phone ports and up to 8 BRI IDSN ports. Upgraded hardware in the new version allows each model in the series to support up to 50 users and 10 concurrent calls, no matter the codec used. Powered by a Celeron 1.2 GHz processor and featuring a 4GB Single Layer Cell (SLC) Disk on Module (DOM) for mass storage, the unit is pre-loaded with the Elastix Asterisk distribution and supports standard Internet upgrades, making it what the company calls an extremely cost-effective solution for the long term, and setting it apart from other Asterisk-based appliances that use proprietary technology.

Product features include:

  • Various combinations of FXS, FXO and BRI ISDN telephony ports

  • Supports SIP and IAX2 phones and trunks

  • 8 or 16 analog lines/extensions

  • 2, 4, 6 or 8 BRI ISDN ports

  • 10 concurrent calls, independent of codec used

  • Small footprint: industry standard 19″ 1U rack- or wall-mountable

  • Input/Output ports support auxiliary appliances (door locks, alarm systems, etc.)

  • Easy-to-use Web interface for Asterisk and network setup

  • Advanced provisioning and maintenance features: 

  • Rapid Tunneling – Provides direct support for customers via a secure connection, behind firewalls and NATs

  • Compatible with Rapid Recovery backup and restore utility

  • Units with FXS ports support Rapid PA public address capability
