Corsair PrePay Goes Live in Sao Paulo
Corsair Communications, Inc.
(www.corsair.com), a software and system solutions provider for the global wireless industry, has announced that Brazilian carriers BCP and TESS now support prepaid roaming between their markets in Sao Paulo, Brazil, using Corsair’s PrePay Open interface software. The inauguration of prepaid roaming between TESS and BCP was timed as part of a nationwide celebration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil, on April 21, 1500.
In February, Corsair and BCP initiated a trial of Corsair’s PrePay Open, a new product announced at the CTIA Wireless 2000 Conference in New Orleans. The trial was designed to demonstrate the ability of PrePay Open to support roaming in mixed infrastructure environments ,like those found at BCP and TESS, using WIN technology. TESS and BCP support one of the world’s fastest growing wireless prepaid markets.
PrePay Open is Corsair’s infrastructure-independent wireless prepaid billing system. Based on PrePay, Corsair’s metered billing system for Ericsson-infrastructure networks, PrePay Open delivers the scalability, performance, and upgradeability of a signaling-based prepaid billing system across multiple wireless infrastructures and air interfaces.
The service also provides carriers with the investment protection of a software-only upgrade when the industry migrates to WIN Phase II. PrePay Open supports the TDMA, CDMA, AMPS, and GSM air interfaces, and is based upon the proven performance of PrePay, which manages more than 9 million wireless subscribers in North and South America and Europe.
As of April 21, PrePay Open has been running live, allowing BCP and TESS subscribers to use their PrePay wireless accounts while they roam throughout the Sao Paulo area.
