Westcon Convergence, Security Practices Maximize Reseller Opportunities

With its recent acquisition of distributors Ronco Communications and Electronics Inc., value-added distributor Westcon Group North America Inc. has created two new units to help resellers offer the appropriate brand of services and tools to their end users.

Westcon Group which mainly sells the Nortel Networks brand said on Tuesday it has created convergence and security practices to go along with its ConvergencePoint and SecurityPoint programs. One Voice and OneDefense are the companion programs at Westcon Group division ComStor, which distributes Cisco Systems Inc. products and services.

Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, vice president of sales, is leading the convergence practice, while Laurie Usewicz, vice president of security sales, will direct the security practice.

Internally, we have developed highly focused teams that can shape a convergence or security solution to meet a specific business requirement in any vertical market, said Usewicz. Our product managers and sales personnel are able to swiftly calibrate the latest manufacturer offerings into targeted solutions.”

Smurthwaite-Murphy added resellers should experience immediate benefits because of pre-sales support and customer service.

We want to help our resellers with every convergence opportunity, providing both the knowledge basis and access to required solutions, she said.
