Vonage just rolled out its new cloud-native platform aimed at midmarket business needs. It replaces its Vonage Essentials product.

Vonage Business Cloud integrates with tools for messaging, increased mobility, network optimization and video collaboration, and was specifically designed and developed around a public cloud-based architecture, allowing for faster innovation and accelerating global expansion, the company said.

Bob Crissman, Vonage’s chief channel officer, tells Channel Partners the platform is engineered to help small and mid-sized businesses access the same set of business features and functionality that have typically been offered to larger enterprises.

“The availability of features such as enterprise-grade conferencing tools, industry-leading SD-WAN solutions via Vonage SmartWAN, an ever-expanding list of business app integrations and a robust set of native cloud-based technologies provide multiple paths for our partners to grow their business and make a smoother transition to a solutions-based selling model,” he said. “Vonage’s unique combination of unified communications and cloud-based APIs allow partners to move beyond a feature-based, transactional sales model to truly create solutions built for their customers’ needs, and in the process, grow their business potential within each opportunity.”

The flexibility of Vonage Business Cloud allows Vonage and its partners to “package solutions specific to the needs of each vertical market,” enhancing the partner’s ability to pursue more targeted opportunities, Crissman said.

“We are in a strong position to address the needs of larger businesses with the launch of the Vonage Business Cloud,” said Alan Masarek, Vonage’s CEO. “Vonage is redefining how businesses communicate and our new platform will enable us to deliver innovative solutions to drive better business outcomes for our customers.”

Vonage Business Cloud uses the latest advances in software design and cloud-based technologies, including microservices, auto-scaling, serverless functions, containers, managed databases, infrastructure-as-code and machine learning, the company said. Vonage’s SmartWAN now is available with the platform.

The platform allows for unlimited customer growth and the ability to increase on-demand to address unforeseen traffic spikes from any location, at any time — whether from a phone, mobile device, web client or API, the company said.

The platform integrates with enterprise software that businesses use every day, including Salesforce, G Suite, Zoho, Clio, Connectwise, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics and more, as well as conferencing and collaboration tools.

It includes redesigned desktop application and MobileApp user interfaces, with enhanced messaging and other features.

“With an eye on the future, we’ve ensured that the ever-evolving and real-time nature of our next-gen mobile app provides customers with the latest features and best user experience,” said Omar Javaid, Vonage’s chief product officer. “The Vonage Business Cloud app puts the power of advanced business communications in the palm of your hand.”

Most Vonage Business customers already run on Vonage Business Cloud after migrating from Vonage Essentials.
