vArmour Extends Security to AWS Environments

PRESS RELEASE – MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – October 5, 2015 — vArmour, the data center security company that enables organizations to protect their virtualized and cloud assets, today announced that it is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to add enhanced protection to enterprise workloads across public, on-premise environments and hybrid architectures. vArmour is extending its industry-leading distributed security system to AWS environments, providing workload-level visibility, policy enforcement and network control across hybrid architectures  through a single management interface. vArmour’s software-based approach to distributed security also supports and scales out with AWS infrastructure — providing the consumption economics and agility of AWS.

Gartner estimates that 70 percent of new application development projects will be deployed to either private or public cloud infrastructures by 2020. With this fast-growing enterprise trend toward cloud computing, including outsourcing resources to cloud providers like AWS, it is imperative that modern security solutions span across heterogeneous environments. The solutions must also provide the same level of protection and visibility for off-premises workloads as those that are on-premises.

As an AWS Partner Network (APN) Standard Technology Partner, vArmour DSS Distributed Security System helps AWS customers to meet security objectives around visibility, auditability, and agility by complementing AWS’s foundational security with vArmour’s application-layer controls. AWS and vArmour provide comprehensive security controls that tie individual silos with a unique, single-pane solution across multiple Amazon Virtual Private Clouds (VPC). As part of AWS’s shared security responsibility framework, vArmour DSS adds additional application-aware protection to workloads running on AWS environments, and visibility to identify where these applications reside between Amazon VPCs. This can assist customers with any additional compliance and audit requirements for the specific applications running on AWS’s resilient, enterprise-ready cloud infrastructure.

“Booz Allen is recognized by federal agencies and commercial enterprises alike for our ability to blend multi-disciplined, intelligent tradecraft, data analytics, and advanced cloud, social and mobile technologies with the human dimension to address the most pressing cyber and global security threats,” said Angela Messer, Booz Allen Hamilton executive vice president and lead of the firm’s Predictive Intelligence business. “Through our work and collaboration with organizations such as vArmour, Booz Allen delivers advanced security and IoT solutions to clients migrating to AWS and leads the industry with innovative cloud security and methods that protect our clients’ most valuable assets.”

vArmour on AWS enables customers to realize benefits of moving to the secure AWS Cloud, including:

  •  Visibility into all application-layer traffic, between Amazon VPCs and on-premises: 100 percent visibility of network traffic, application connections and anomalous behavior running on top of AWS.

  • Inter- and Intra-VPC lifecycle security controls: Security policies move with each workload, across VPCs, providing consistent security enforcement of the system owned and operated by the customer.

  • Workload segmentation: Customer-controlled isolation for the responsibility of sensitive assets in multiple VPCs for C&A, regulatory compliance and scalability.

“Through the shared security approach, vArmour on AWS provides comprehensive value to enterprises who require application-level workload security, control and visibility over their AWS traffic,” said Keith Stewart, VP of Products at vArmour. “Key engagements with partners, including Booz Allen Hamilton, make this a reality today, so that security can be built-in to workloads as enterprises continue on their journey to the cloud.”
