Longtime telecom channel vet Don Joos has left PGi to become CEO of TPx Communications, the managed services and connectivity provider.

Joos was president and CEO of PGi, which calls itself the world’s largest dedicated provider of collaboration software and services.  Before that, he was ShoreTel’s president and CEO. Mitel acquired ShoreTel in 2017.

Joos was with Avaya more more than nine years, most recently as vice president of global services.

TPx Communications ranks No. 2 on the 2019 MSP 501 list.

Looking Ahead

Joos said his focus will be on accelerating TPx’s development, building on its “industry-leading customer satisfaction, tremendous range of award-winning products, and its large, diversified customer base.”

TPx plays an important role in serving the fast-growing addressable market for UCaaS, CCaaS and managed IT services, including security, Joos said. And it’s aligned to expand market share, he said.

“My transition into the company as CEO will be seamless for our partners and their customers, and will not impact their relationships with TPx and/or how they do business with us today,” he said. “In fact, this appointment is consistent with TPx’s ongoing focus to make strategic and innovative moves to keep ahead of changing market dynamics and be a leading partner for our partners. I share in TPx’s continued deep commitment to our partner community as an important route to market, and our ongoing focus on improving user experience and ensuring partner success.”

Joos succeeds Joe Cozzolino, who has been interim CEO during the board’s search for a full-time chief executive. Cozzolino will continue to serve as executive chairman of TPx’s board of directors.

In February, Siris, the private equity firm focused on investing in technology and telecommunications companies, completed its acquisition of TPx. PGi is also a Siris company.

Earlier this year, TPx rolled out MSx Networks, a managed service designed to help customers create and maintain network solutions, including Wi-Fi, security, SD-WAN and switching. As a result, customers can improve agility, lower costs and reduce complexity.
