Toshiba, Symbol Devices Interoperable

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division (TAIS TSD) has verified the interoperability of its Strata CIX IP Communication system and SoftIPT softphone for PDAs with Symbol Technologies MC50 Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA).

Both companies distribute through channel partners.

Toshiba SoftIPT softphone for handhelds wirelessly extends the features of Toshiba desktop telephones to mobile computers, including Symbol Technologies MC50 Enterprise Digital Assistant, said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshibas Telecommunication Systems Division. Using the MC50 EDA with Toshibas SoftIPT softphone, highly mobile business users, such as those in retail and medical, have wireless access to voice and data, including remote call handling of their desk telephones.

Symbol MC50 EDA users now can access the features of Toshibas Strata CIX IP business communications system or Strata CTX digital business communications system through 802.11b wireless networks. Features include mobile operation; traditional call handling tools; graphical user interface; and long battery life.
