Telinta, the global provider of cloud-based switching and billing offerings, has teamed up with TextBetter, a short message service (SMS) provider, on a new offering aimed at meeting the evolving needs of VoIP service providers.

TextBetter offers a white-label service that allows any U.S. phone number to both send and receive text messages via email. VoIP service providers using Telinta’s hosted softswitch platform can add TextBetter’s SMS services for a comprehensive offering using any U.S.-based phone number from any direct inward dialing (DID) provider.

Anthony Stiso, Telinta‘s vice president of marketing and sales, tells Channel Partners that his company’s customers are VoIP service providers globally, many of which serve multiple layers of resellers.

“A Telinta customer can use our specialized portals, billing and commissions calculation tools with any of our solutions in a way that helps them serve an unlimited number of resellers and distributors,” he said. “The addition of TextBetter helps our customers to profit from the growth in SMS and other forms of messaging.

Many of Telinta’s customers look for add-on services that they can offer as a premium, Stiso said. TextBetter “brings our customers the possibility to not only offer exciting new capabilities, but to also command new revenue opportunities and better compete by providing highly differentiated services,” he said.

This cloud-based combination of VoIP switching, billing and text-messaging technology requires no software or hardware for service providers, according to Telinta. TextBetter pairs the end user’s existing email with an associated phone number so that messages can be both sent and received via the end user’s existing email address and client.

This offering can complement VoIP services such as hosted PBX, business and residential VoIP, mobile and other services offered via Telinta’s cloud-based softswitch platform.

“TextBetter services are unique in the marketplace, and while we have other partners which provide other SMS-related services, there are no other partners that offer the type of SMS-enabling that TextBetter provides,” Stiso said. “TextBetter’s management team approached Telinta, we trialed their services and thought our customers would find value in offering them.”

“TextBetter’s SMS solutions unlock tremendous value for VoIP service providers and resellers,” said Dean Garfinkel, TextBetter’s CEO. “Our partnership with Telinta represents an exciting new chapter for the VoIP Industry as a whole.”
