Coast-to-Coast DS-3 Bandwidth Pricing Relatively Flat
The Real-Time Bandwidth Exchange*Revealed Price Index
(RTBX*RPI) tracks the current weighted average price of coast-to-coast DS-3 pricing. From March 2000 to May 2000, prices have remained relatively flat, with the May price ($27,265) exactly 5 percent lower than the March price ($28,700). A month-to-month breakdown of the past three months shows a decrease in price of 6 percent from March ($28,700) to April ($26,988), then a 1 percent price increase from April to May ($27,265).
In the international termination rate market, most prices remained flat from the previous month as illustrated in the chart below. However, rate decreases were seen in Austria (-1 percent) and Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of China (-3 percent). Fairly significant rate increases were seen in India (54 percent), Mexico (33 percent) and the Philippines (15 percent).
