Dave Sipes, RingCentral’s former COO, has been appointed the new 8×8 CEO, replacing Vik Verma in the leadership role.

Sipes is also joining 8×8’s board of directors.

At RingCentral, Sipes led go-to-market, product and engineering. And he was instrumental in the company’s 12-year growth trajectory from $10 million to more than $1 billion in revenue.

Sipes joined RingCentral in June 2008 and left the company this past June.

Critical Focal Point

“I am looking forward to leading 8×8,” Sipes said. “It’s one of the select SaaS businesses to reach half a billion dollars in revenue with a strong and expanding customer base. The cloud and work-from-home are transforming business communications for every employee and customer touchpoint, and have become a critical focal point for building competitive advantage for businesses today.”

8×8 is well positioned with its Open Communications Platform, he said. It provides integrated communication tools to power businesses’ cloud communications needs.

“This company has the opportunity to be central to the transformation of work,” Sipes said.

John DeLozier is 8×8’s senior vice president and global channel chief.

“Its all about the next level and we are happy to have him,” he said.

Verma will assist in the 8×8 CEO transition in an advisory role after leading 8×8 for seven years. During his tenure, 8×8 underwent both a product and business model transformation. It also built an over $500 million SaaS business, adding more than $1.5 billion in market capitalization.

Jaswinder Pal Singh will become the company’s chairman of the board. Singh replaces former chairman Bryan Martin, who will continue to serve on the 8×8 board. Verma has retired from the board of directors.

“8×8 is participating in one of the biggest SaaS markets today, cloud communications,” Singh said. “We believe Dave, with his operational expertise, strong industry background, and world-class go-to-market leadership, is the right leader at the right time to fully realize our potential.”
