Broadvox LLC announced four companies Clear Reach, Hotwire Communications, Virtual-Switch.Com Inc. and VoIP Canada Inc. will offer Broadvoxs VoIP broadband services with a suite of local and long-distance service packages. Clear Reach is an Internet company in northern Colorado that provides wireless VoIP voice and data service across the state along with DSL, wireless Internet connectivity, private network capabilities, e-mail and Web hosting. HotWire is a leading provider of cable, telephone and Internet services to residential multifamily properties. Virtual-Switch.Com offers virtual switch services and VoIP Canada is a broadband phone company in Ontario offering residential/small business services as well enterprise solutions such as IP PBX, IP Centrex and IP trunking.
IDT Corp. has signed a long-term wholesale services agreement with Verizon Communications Inc. for local phone service. The new agreement took effect on Aug. 1. Verizon will provide IDT, a CLEC, with dial-tone services or access to its local networks for a term lasting up to five years. The deal preserves the services IDT was able to offer under Verizons UNE-P offerings; the FCC earlier this year eliminated UNE-P requirements.
Virgin Mobile USA, an MVNO, has created a new way for customers to pay as they go. Called Month2Month, the new terms adjust to a customers usage each month without a long-term contract. Month2Month automatically optimizes users bills based on their minutes consumption, and begins the next month at the same cost regardless of the previous months charges. Month2Month plans start at 300 minutes for $29.99. The plan adds minutes by automatically adjusting up one level for $10.
Zoom Technologies Inc. is offering its Zoom VoIP ASAP Service, a turnkey VoIP telephone service for ISPs to rebrand and resell. Zoom estimates the average implementation should take one week. ISPs pay a setup fee of $2,000, which is refundable through Zooms rebate program. That program works by giving ISPs a rebate of $10 for each unit of Zoom VoIP hardware purchased, up to the $2,000 fee. ISPs then pay an ongoing fee of $1 per user per month. This covers unlimited outbound and inbound VoIP-to-VoIP calls, voice mail, call forwarding, call conferencing and more, according to Zoom. For toll calls and local connection to the PSTN, wholesale services are available either from Zoom or from another carrier chosen by the ISP.
SK-EarthLink Inc., an MVNO, has named Michael Grossi as vice president of business development and Rob Gelick as head of music strategy. The MVNO officially launches early next year. Grossi will drive SK-EarthLinks carrier, handset and content relationships. He most recently served as vice president of Adventis. Gelick will oversee the companys mobile music initiatives. He most recently was the music lead for Motorola Inc.s Global Entertainment Solutions group.
eLEC Communications Corp.s subsidiary VoX Communications is providing VoIP to Stowe VoIP, an arm of Stowe Cable in Vermont. Stowe will private-label the services for its broadband subscribers. VoX will provide a branded Web site where consumers can view their usage, pay bills, order services and get customer support.
