Taxation software company BillSoft Inc. has partnered with Martin Group Inc.’s Software Organization to offer a billing and taxation solution to service providers using Martin Group’s OMNIA software solution. Providers using EZTax no longer have to find and compute changes in federal, state, county and local taxes. BillSoft’s EZTax processes taxes for long-distance services, prepaid/debit/calling cards, data services, Internet usage, wireless services, voice mail, paging, fax, local services, shipping, cable and products sales and use, and more. BillSoft updates EZTax software and data monthly.

OSS software manufacturer Alopa Networks Inc.’s Intelligent Activation Core (i-A Core) is a new turnkey tool that lets subscribers and field technicians install and launch broadband services. The software aims to reduce truck rolls often associated with the launch of new consumer services. i-A Core also provides troubleshooting tips, installation tutorials and system upgrades. The system helps customer service representatives troubleshoot capabilities and gives service providers information on serviceability demographics. Alopa says this feature supplies targeted marketing data for launching new network-based applications and services. i-A Core also makes additional sales or promotional offers to subscribers at the time of install.

RODOPI PROVIDES BILLING FUNCTIONS FOR IP SERVICE PROVIDERS
Rodopi Billing Software has unveiled EasyOSS, a turnkey, hosted platform that automates the provisioning, billing and customer management functions of IP service providers, including ISPs, ASPs, HSP and VoIP providers. Rodopi says EasyOSS simplifies the implementation of a fully automated back office through predefined service templates, default service bundles and branded user portals, creating a “business blueprint” for new service introductions.
EasyOSS lets startup and established service providers quickly create fully automated business and operations support systems. Rodopi says that as an ASP (hosted) application, EasyOSS minimizes the need for costly hardware and software infrastructure and administrative personnel.

VERAZ INTEGRATES SERVICE DELIVERY ASSURANCE DIRECTOR
Veraz Networks announced the availability of its Service Delivery Assurance Director in its distributed softswitch platform in an effort to help service providers create and deliver customized SLAs.
Veraz’s Service Delivery Assurance Director incorporates three steps: setting rules and policies, automatic measurement and automatic corrective actions. With these three steps, Veraz enables service providers to establish, measure and enforce service assurance network wide in both IP and PSTN networks rather than view individual network islands. By prescribing thresholds in the Policy Engine, the Service Delivery Assurance Director, will take pre-emptive corrective action across the entire network.
Providers receive an immediate centrally managed networkwide view essential for multiprotocol networks and networks spanning multiple sites that reach several cities and countries. Networkwide statistics based on the nearly 100 policy parameters are now available on issues like latency, packet loss, jitter, average length of call, and answer seizure ratios, as well as application specific and usage context data to provide a comprehensive solution without costly and complex third-party products.

INTEC INTEGRATES TNS’ LECONNECT
OSS provider Intec Telecom Systems PLC will integrate Transaction Network Services Inc. (TNS)’s LEConnect data services into its Carrier Access Billing service. TNS will provide Intec with its secure billing and administrative records file transfer service for intercarrier transactions to exchange records with local phone companies’ data centers over TNS’ private TCP/IP extranet. Carriers contract with Intec’s service bureau to produce and distribute their interconnect bills. LEConnect will help speed up the billing process while delivering security and redundancy. LEConnect enables customers to store and forward records using the extranet, supports records transport between carriers with aroundthe- clock network monitoring and 90- day file archiving.
