Synchronica Plc recently launched version 1.3 of its MobileManager software, which now supports Windows Mobile and Pocket PC devices, as well as Series 60, 80 and 90 Symbian Smartphones. The platform allows administrators to configure and manage employees wireless devices over the air. For example, administrators now can set 802.11 WLAN settings remotely; remove specified e-mail accounts or Web favorites from a device or group of devices; retrieve contact lists; and extend the list of emergency numbers that can be called if the device is locked, to include a corporate help desk number. IT personnel also can check remotely whether a device has received a software update file and schedule over-the-air software updates, which minimizes disruption for the user. Virtual Office targets enterprises with employees who work at home, on the road and in the office. The package integrates iPass remote access technology with GoRemotes broadband services (iPass acquired GoRemote in 2005). iPass says Virtual Office unifies remote and mobile working by adding managed home connectivity and support for corporate Wi-Fi networks.
