MERA DEVELOPS VOIPAL SESSION BORDER CONTROLLER

MERA Systems Inc., a supplier of VoIP solutions, has released MERA VoIPal, its new session border controller designed to interconnect carriers’ networks with customer enterprises across IP links.

MERA VoIPal performs protocol repair, fixes inconsistencies between protocol dialects and converts media codecs. The two-way SIP/H.323 translation capabilities provide direct IP-to-IP interconnection of service provider networks with SIP and/or H.323-based IP PBX and IP Centrex systems. And, to address enterprise security requirements, MERA VoIPal operates as a VoIP firewall, performing the necessary screening for VoIP traffic.

NEWSTEP INTRODUCES IP SERVICE CONTROL SOLUTION

NewStep Networks has introduced its Calling Service Node (CSN), an IP service control solution that enables service providers to integrate telephony services with enterprise applications and deliver them across TDM and IP networks. NewStep calls the CSN a self-funding foundation for transitioning TDM-based services to IP via SS7 or SIP signaling protocols. Applications are able to reach users on any standard device, across mobile or fixed networks.

The company says by decoupling service control and management from voice transport within both TDM and IP-based infrastructures, the CSN gives service providers immediate access to IP’s service innovation benefits without an IP infrastructure build-out.

The CSN is network agnostic.

AUSPICE ANNOUNCES VOICE SERVICE MANAGER

Auspice Corp. has introduced its Opslogic Voice Service Manager (VSM) for VoIP services. Based on the Auspice TLX Real-Time Systems Integration and Operations Automation Platform, the company says VSM will enable cable providers to deliver VoIP to subscribers by monitoring the cable VoIP infrastructure.

VSM supports the PacketCable industry standard for VoIP as well as the DOCSIS standard for cable devices.

VSM correlates outage, alarm condition, performance and quality-of-service monitoring of cable modems, multimedia terminal adapters, embedded MTAs and hybrid-fiber coax plants/transponders/nodes. The solution also correlates monitored data with the status of call management servers, switches, DHCP servers, customer databases, and billing and provisioning systems.

TOUCHSTONE UNVEILS CALL MONITOR, ANALYZER

Touchstone Technologies Inc. has introduced WinEyeQ, a passive voice and video over IP call monitor and analyzer for testing equipment, networks and services. WinEyeQ features real-time protocol analysis and display, protocol filtering and reporting, giving users a way to troubleshoot, analyze and measure VoIP performance metrics.

WinEyeQ associates and assembles packets into a comprehensive view of a VoIP call. Touchstone says this allows WinEyeQ to check for the types of call anomalies that can be time-consuming and even impossible for engineering and quality assurance staff members to decipher by hand.

Other WinEyeQ Call Monitor and Analyzer features include detailed reporting of protocol violations and call anomalies, as well as user-defined alerts and alarms; the ability to capture and replay calls in native mode; and registration information to gatekeepers and registrars, giving a complete call profile.
