NexTone Unveils FlexControl Set

NexTone Communications (Booth 132) has unveiled FlexControl, a new product set for carriers: FlexPeer, FlexRoute and FlexPolicy.

FlexPeer provides carriers with a feature set handling the complexities of signaling interoperability and media processing at network peering points. FlexRoute helps carriers develop granular and highly programmable facilities to govern routing of real-time traffic over their IP networks. FlexPolicy is NexTone’s ability to enforce network policies on a virtual basis, so network policies can be applied to a user, network port, network device, device group or an entire network.

"The virtual application of policies provides carriers with a mechanism to enforce policies on entities that are not controlled or operated by the carrier," the company says.

The company says FlexRoute is highly scalable, with support for more than 400,000 dialed[MB1] number translations, allowing carriers to terminate calls on a larger set of endpoints.

"NexTone’s FlexRoute is an essential part of our network which today is one of the most complex routing infrastructures deployed in the world," says Yaron Raps, deltathree’s director of engineering. "Specialized FlexRoute capabilities such call route hunting enables us to more finely control the parameters we utilize to dynamically select routes and thereby increase our already very high levels of overall call quality.

NexTone’s FlexPeer signaling software provides carriers with VoIP interoperability by adapting signaling messaging and timing so that every partner is quickly connected in the most cost effective way. FlexPeer offers peering carriers the advanced capabilities of route control, process and manipulate session media information which increases their ability to affect margins based on a preferred partners and routes.

"ITXC has been very successful using FlexPeer technology from NexTone to increase the number, scale, and quality of carrier-grade VoIP connections between ITXC.net and a diverse range of small to large carrier-owned VoIP networks on all continents," says John Landau, executive vice president of product management at ITXC. "NexTone’s FlexPeer technology is robustly supporting ITXC’s exchange of production traffic with a growing list of otherwise incompatible VoIP networks at the edge of our ITXC.net network. Each peer network may use SIP or H.323 for call control, any of several vendors’ softswitches and gatekeepers, and any of a large variety of vendors’ gateways.

NexTone Communications, headquartered in Germantown, Md., provides session controllers for the delivery of real-time services over packet networks, such as voice over IP (VoIP). NexTone solutions enable carriers, service providers and enterprise customers to interconnect networks.
