Network Plus to Deliver Voice, Data over DSL

In another move hurtling the industry toward voice and data convergence, Quincy,
Mass.-based Network Plus has partnered with San Jose, Calif.-based AccessLan
Communications Inc. to provide voice and data over digital subscriber line (DSL). The
value of the deal is projected to exceed $12 million over the next year in the largest
multiservice DSL infrastructure buildout to date.

Network Plus will deploy AccessLan’s PacketLoop DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs) to
deliver multiline voice and high-speed data services. The facilities-based competitive
local exchange carrier (CLEC) projects a network buildout of about 300 central offices
(COs) over the next two years.

Service will begin in the Northeast, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and
Rhode Island. Network Plus expects to serve Florida and Georgia by the end of the year.

Rob Hale Jr., CEO of Network Plus, says speed to market was a primary concern of his
company in deploying the new service, and AccessLan provided the fastest solution.

"We chose AccessLan to be our strategic partner because they have developed an
excellent multiservice broadband access solution that is available for commercial
deployment immediately," Hall said in a press release. "Time to market is
clearly the name of the game for the service provider … [and] they were able to get our
end-to-end voice and data over DSL solution up and running in less than two days."
