IPtimize Buys American Fiber Systems

IPtimize Inc. (IPZI) said it’s doubling the number of IP endpoints it serves with the acquisition of American Fiber Systems Inc.

The Denver-based broadband voice and data service provider announced earlier this week that it has purchased AFS’s broadband access and hosted VoIP phone services business. Terms weren’t disclosed; IPtimize would only say the transaction was debt-free, paid in cash, and closed last week.

AFS customers – SMBs and enterprises in Boise, Idaho; Reno and Las Vegas, Nev.; and Salt Lake City – shouldn’t experience any service problems as a result of the pairing, IPtimize and AFS said.

“AFS built an excellent foundation in the commercial voice space, and we look forward to expanding the services and options available to both existing and new customers as IPtimize enters these markets,” said Ron Pitcock, chairman and CEO of IPtimize, in a prepared statement.
