IP5280 Adds to IP Services Capabilities With RockyNet Purchase

Business IP telephony operator IP5280 Communications has snapped up the customer assets of RockyNet, a VoIP and Internet services provider.

The deal whose financial terms were not disclosed expands IP5280s reach in managed services and cloud applications. New services include managed Web and colocation.

Agents will be able to sell the combined companys products and gain more traction among their customers, said John Scarborough, managing partner at Colorado-headquartered IP5280. And IP5280s RockyNet purchase means a greater level of expertise in service delivery for agents customers agents can be assured of our experience,” Scarborough said.

To that point, IP5280 is bringing over two people from RockyNet Sheri Harrington and Seth Justice. Harrington will head the customer operations and service delivery group, while Justice joins the technical operations team. IP5280 also recently named Brian Belanger, who has 15 years of experience in telecom, as its new director of partner sales.

Meantime, the RockyNet acquisition bolsters IP5280s user base by more than 15 percent and gives IP5280 access to RockyNets IP Call-Control platform. IP5280 will blend that system with its cloud-computing product, IP5280 CLOVER. IP5280 said agents commission structure already in the 10-15 percent range wont change as a result of the RockyNet transaction.

RockyNet said it now will focus on its data-center cloud computing strategy.
