Savera, Sun Microsystems Team Up on Web-Based Solutions
By Tara Seals
Savera Systems (www.savera.com), a global software company that delivers web-based billing solutions to the telecom and Internet industries, has announced a joint marketing agreement with Sun Microsystems
(www.sun.com), developer of the Java programming language.
As part of the agreement, Savera and Sun Microsystems’ Network Service Provider division will co-market each other’s products and services. Planned venues will include trade shows, customer demonstrations, web site presence, public relations efforts and customer referrals.
A product expected to benefit from the arrangement is Savera’s RealTime Prepaid solution, which is designed for VoIP and Internet environments. The billing service manages prepaid operations and provides current information to customer care, marketing and finance departments as well as to subscribers over a secure web-based interface.
The product’s suite of application programming interfaces incorporates best!=of!=breed third-party solutions where needed, such as switch interfaces, “Cyber-cash”, inventory systems, and short message services. The solution is deployable within a week of the order.
“At Sun, we strive to bring our customers the most innovative solutions that will result in significant efficiencies for their organization,” says Tim Dwyer, vice president of marketing and sales development for Sun’s Network Service Provider Division. “We’ve chosen Savera as an ally because they provide a truly groundbreaking solution in the telecom/Internet billing industry–one that we are courting aggressively–and they share our ongoing commitment to excellence.”
Currently, the telecom billing market is estimated to be in excess of $6 billion, and it is growing annually at a rate of 30 percent.
Savera’s “100% Web Based” billing solutions currently run exclusively on Sun Enterprise servers using the Solaris Operating Environment.
“Sun Microsystems is a valuable addition to the Savera Alliance Partner Program,” says Inderpal Singh Mumick, Savera’s president and CEO. “By combining valuable resources and having greater access to each other’s latest offerings, both companies will benefit from increased business opportunities. In addition, our customers will enjoy a quicker evaluation process, the ability to one-stop shop and improved access to top-notch solutions and hardware throughout the world.”
