Praise for the Portal

The Communications Portal (January 2001) feature for PHONE+ was excellent–a
clear and accurate representation of the Personal Application Desktop (PAD) and
the Service Creation Manager. We showcased the PAD at ComNet.

We’ll be formally announcing the business logic piece of the puzzle (which is
a significant chunk of the "brains" behind this) in a month or two.

Busted! Reader Appreciates Fraud Story

I wanted to compliment James R. Dukart on his article "Fraud Busting the
ASP Way" in the November 2000 issue of "PHONE+".

We’ve been fortunate enough to have had Jim Marsh (and now another TMNG Inc.
[www.tmng.com] consultant) working in our
Fraud Department for the past year and a half. It was refreshing to see quotes
and explanations coming from a highly reliable resource in the industry.

Mr. Marsh’s statements about "product marketing coming up with all kinds
of crazy ways to use the network," as well as his point regarding real-time
data–" for fraud to work, the information has to be available
immediately"–touch on subjects that frequently go unnoticed in the telecom
industry (internally and externally).

Given a Platform to Clarify a Point

I just read "ITCC Enters Minutes, Bandwidth Exchange" in your
February issue. Just a point of clarification: You refer to RateXchange Corp. (www.ratexchange.com)
as one of the industry’s leading bandwidth traders; this is incorrect.
RateXchange does not trade bandwidth, it provides an online trading platform
that bandwidth traders (such as Enron Corp., www.enron.com
; or El Paso Global Networks, www.epenergy.com)
use, if they choose, to execute their trades.
