Guerrilla Publishing

In many ways, this magazine reflects its audience. It serves a niche market. It has
experienced rapid growth. It has taken share away from larger competitors. And, when
market conditions necessitate a change, it’s been quick to move.

Like many of our readers, the staff of PHONE+ has been known to scurry through
an underground tunnel, emerge from a foxhole, open fire and go underground before the
enemy knows what happened–only to emerge moments later from a different hole and open
fire again. (We affectionately call this guerrilla publishing).

Also, like many readers, our targets usually are competitors that build from the top
down. That is, they use their vast resources to invest a great deal of money up front.

Ten years ago, we at PHONE+ emerged without those resources. We built from the
bottom up, meaning we started with next-to-nothing but a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

Since then, we’ve been fortunate enough to mature with a vibrant and growing industry
and now have the reputation and resources to build an editorial staff that’s second to
none. If you’ve been watching our masthead lately–and the mastheads of sister
publications X-CHANGE and Sounding Board–you might have noticed a few
additions. New to the team are telecom veterans Paula Bernier, formerly with Interactive
Week and Telephony; Charlene O’Hanlon, a seasoned journalist formerly with
Inter-Tel, an Internet protocol (IP) telephony company; Carol Bowers, formerly with Communications
Today; and Ken Branson, a reporter with 10 years’ experience at Bellcore.

Starting this month are Gail Lawyer, formerly with tele.com, and Khali
Henderson, a consultant and frequent contributor to PHONE+. Henderson, you might
recall, was an editor with PHONE+ several years ago, before starting her own
business and serving as public relations counsel to the Telecommunications Resellers
Association.

Your success gives us cause to celebrate, but also to reload. We’re adding firepower,
so stay tuned.
