Granite Telecommunications, which provides communications products and services to businesses and government agencies throughout North America, has surpassed its 2019 fiscal goal of achieving $1.5 billion in revenue with no outside acquisition and investment — and no debt.

The milestone marks a decade in which Granite’s annual growth has on average exceeded $100 million. Granite sponsored TrainOurTroops at last week’s Channel Partners Evolution.

Rand Currier, Granite’s COO, tells Channel Partners that his company’s partners play a “huge role in our success.”

“Our channel team has worked with partners nationwide for 15 years, but the volume of interactions and opportunities is increasing considerably as we sell more data, IP voice and wireless solutions,” he said. “Granite’s channel in on pace for $225 million in revenue in 2019, which represents a more than 80% increase over four years ago and 37% increase over just two years. To meet the spike in demand, we’re moving as quickly as we can to add seasoned regional channel managers in multiple markets. By having a local presence in numerous markets across the country, we’ll be able to understand our partners’ goals, requirements and prospects on a deeper level, collaborate with them more frequently in-person, work together to communicate our value proposition to end users and, ultimately, win more business together.”

Having no outside acquisitions, investment or debt gives Granite the strategic advantage to do whatever is best for the company in the long term, even if that isn’t what might be most profitable in any given quarter or year, Currier said. The majority of other carriers that Granite competes with are burdened by significant debt, yet Granite has never had that problem, which means “we can take risks and make investments where other indebted companies cannot,” he said.

“Reaching the $1.5 billion milestone is a testament to the dedication of our teammates nationwide,” said Rob Hale, Granite’s CEO. “We rely on more than 2,200 people in our product development, sales and marketing, technology and hands-on support teams to ensure that Granite delivers a world-class experience to our business and government customers. Without their extraordinary efforts, we would not have been able to achieve our long record of growth and stability. We hire the best, and it shows.”

Granite said fueling its growth is continued demand for voice services along with significant increases in data and wireless services. Granite provides services without being wedded to any single underlying network platform or technology – including its own nationally deployed network – and instead utilizes the access best situated for each customer at every location.

Hale awarded $1,500 bonuses to the team on Oct. 4 and held a companywide celebration on Oct. 11. The bonus is in addition to all other holiday, year-end, performance and other bonuses already planned.

Granite’s services include voice (analog and IP), broadband and high-capacity data, enterprise mobility and managed solutions, including Wi-Fi, security, network monitoring and SD-WAN, UC services and network integration. Granite also is one of nine companies approved to supply $50 billion in voice and data services to governmental agencies for a 15-year period under the General Services Administration (GSA) Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) contract.
