fring Launches iPhone Video Calling

fring has launched mobile video calling for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The application runs over a Wi-Fi connection and makes use of the video capabilities in the latest versions of the devices. It’s available to users with iPhone OS 3.0 (for now, only incoming video-streaming is available, due to the location of the camera).

The video feature is embedded within the fring application, which acts as an IP communications aggregation portal. It enables free voice calls from the iPhone and iPod Touch to other fring users, Skype and GTalk buddies as well as friends on regular phone lines via Skype-Out and other popular SIP services. fring users also can live chat, update profiles, share files and talk with friends from several instant messaging services like MSN, AIM, GoogleTalk and Skype, in addition to interacting with popular online social networks like Twitter, all from one integrated fring contact list.

The new fring with video is also compatible with Nokia Symbian S60 devices (two-way video streaming is available), Android devices, Windows Mobile and Linux devices.
