Channel Partners: Covad Offers Broadband Failover Option
Covad Wireless, a subsidiary of Covad Communications Group Inc., has combined fixed broadband wireless Super-T with backup DSL service.
The option is available to business customers in California. It targets companies that want an alternative to standalone cable, DSL or T1 and includes a backup connection. That way, if a disaster strikes, users have broadband even if the wireless service goes out. Automatic failover usually takes place in less than 60 seconds.
Backup DSL, sold as an upgrade for the Super-T product, accommodates download speeds of up to 3mbps. Its available in most California locations where Super-T service is sold, Covad said at the Spring 2008 Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.
Covad Wireless serves approximately 4,000 SMBs in the San Francisco Bay and Los Angeles areas, as well as Chicago and Las Vegas.
