Cbeyond has hired Tim Myers as its vice president of cloud engineering and development.

The addition comes as Cbeyond moves to a more cloud- and IT-centric model, targeting SMBs.

Myers, who holds more than 20 years of engineering experience, will oversee the design, architecture, engineering and development of Cbeyond cloud platforms, including cloud PBX, cloud servers and applications. Before joining Cbeyond, Myers served as senior vice president of emerging technologies, enterprise technology infrastructure, at SunTrust Banks in Atlanta.

"As more businesses begin transitioning on-site data and applications to the cloud, they need to feel confident that their cloud servers ensure unparalleled security, visibility and continuity," said Myers. Myers is just one of three recent executive hires at Cbeyond; Chris Ortbals and Matthew Stevens also have signed on as vice president of cloud services and vice president of professional services, respectively.
