Roy A. Wilkens

Roy A. Wilkens has joined the board of directors for Williams Communications
Group Inc., Tulsa, Okla. Wilkens, president and CEO of WilTel until it was acquired by
LDDS Communications (now MCI WorldCom Inc.), will serve as an independent director and
non-executive chairman of the board.

Williams Communications also has promoted Matthew Bross to senior vice president
and chief technology officer. He will report directly to Howard Jantzen, president and CEO
of Williams.

Williams also has appointed Scott Schubert senior vice president and chief
financial officer, succeeding Larry Littlefield, who continues as senior vice president,
consulting with senior management in all areas of financial performance. Schubert joins
Williams after 23 years at BP Amoco, the last five as a corporate officer.

Glenn Reynolds has been named acting chief of the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) Common Carrier Bureau’s Enforcement Division. He has served as deputy
chief of the division since August 1998. Prior to that, he was legal counsel to the Common
Carrier Bureau Chief, with primary responsibility over enforcement and pricing matters. He
joined the Common Carrier Bureau in 1996.

Melvin Patterson has joined BTI Telecom Corp., Raleigh, N.C., as vice president
of network facilities. He will oversee the activation and operation of BTI’s 3,250-mile
fiber optic network that will stretch from Miami to New York and from Atlanta to
Nashville. Before joining BTI, Patterson held various management positions at CapRock
Communications Corp., Dallas; ITC^DeltaCom Inc., West Point, Ga.; and Southern Company
Services, Birmingham, Ala.

In addition, BTI has named Bea Alvis director of special projects. She will
provide senior project management coordination for the company’s digital subscriber line
(DSL) initiative. Alvis has more than 10 years’ experience in the telecommunications
industry, concentrating on program and project management.

Nightfire Software Inc., Berkeley, Calif., has named Jerry Rudisin president and
CEO. He succeeds Venkates Swaminathan, who will serve as executive vice president and
chief strategist. Rudisin previously led marketing at Rational Software Corp., Cupertino,
Calif.

Digital Telecommunication Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., has promoted Dennis Chateauneuf
to president. He also currently serves as chief operating officer. Richard Graves, DTI’s
current president, will continue in his role of CEO and chief technical officer.

IXC Taps Zrno for President, CEO


John M. Zrno

John M. Zrno has been named president and CEO of IXC Communications Inc.,
Austin, Texas. He succeeds Benjamin L. Scott, who will continue to serve as chairman of
the board.

Zrno, former president and CEO of ALC Communications Corp. and Cable & Wireless
North America, has more than 25 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. He
is a member of the board of directors for Teleglobe Inc., McLean Va., and recently served
as chairman of MIDCOM Communications Inc., Seattle, and vice-chairman of Frontier Corp.,
Rochester, N.Y.

Zrno also is expected to be appointed to a newly created board position in the near
future. In addition, IXC director Ralph J. Swett has been appointed vice-chairman
of the board.
