Birdieon Hole 4

As blue herons looked on, 15 teams teed up at 8 a.m. Sunday for the CompTel/ASCENT golf tournament sponsored by Vero Systems Inc. (Booth 501). The teams played a shotgun start team scramble through Floridas humid midday sun at the Orlando Marriott World Centers Hawks Landing Golf Club. At just longer than 6,800 yards, the course features lush grounds and water in 15 of 18 holes.

A luncheon and awards ceremony was held in the hotel following the event. Taking first place honors was a foursome with Total Call Internationals Mark Leafstedt and Daniel Ing, Vero Systems Brian Cafferty and 702 Communications Jim Walter. Each player won a package including a shirt, hat, glove, golf balls and bag tag.

Earning second place was the Volo Communications trio of Sterling Winn, Lew Brownfield and Ron Harden along with ITC^DeltaComs Drew Walker. Each player won a shirt and golf balls.

Last place honors to the most honest team went to the Consumer Cellular crew of John Marick, Greg Pryor and David Gusky with Pat Chisholm of Nscope LLC. Each player won golf balls and a divot tool.

Scott Cousins, of Iowa Network Services, won the mens longest drive. AT&T Alascoms Linda Phillips shot the womens longest drive. Jeff Cairnes of Go Solutions shot closest to the pin for the men, while Diane Page of SRP Telecom took the prize for the women. All winners won $50 gift certificates to the pro shop.
