AT&T Discloses Wage-Increase, Health-Premium Details of Tentative Southeast Labor Contract

AT&T has revealed the details of a tentative agreement it reached with the Communications Workers of America covering 22,000 workers in the Southeast.

Most workers will receive a general wage increase of 2.25 percent the first year, 2.75 percent in the second year and 3 percent in the third year, AT&T said.

The pact will be submitted to the CWA’s members for a vote to be ratified in the coming days. The agreement covers employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The contract also provides that employees with individual health-care coverage will pay monthly contributions of $38 in the first year, $58 in the second year and $79 in the third year of the agreement, according to the telecom giant. Employees with family coverage will make monthly contributions of $81, $121 and $163 during the three years, AT&T noted.

AT&T in July reached tentative agreements for contracts covering roughly 13,000 employees in the Midwest and 5,700 AT&T Corp. employees located throughout the country.

Earlier this week, AT&T workers on opposite coasts went on strike, citing unfair labor practices.
