ASCENT: Profitec Improves Web Commerce Applications

Profitec (Booth 300) is announcing significant enhancements to the Web commerce functionality of its telecom billing system, Omnibill 7.5.

The company has rolled out a new version of Omniview, the EBPP engine that links with the Omnibill database management system. Omniview now supports the incorporation of daily rated call files that are replicated from the Omnibill system. Un-invoiced calls are posted to accounts in Omniview, added to the prior balance to continually update the total due and are available for viewing and reporting by consumers accessing the system over the Web. Omniview users now are empowered with subject-specific messaging capabilities and online chat into an organization’s customer service department.

Building on Omnibill 7.5’s order-analysis capability, Profitec also is releasing a consumer-oriented Web-based order-entry system. Called Omnisignup, it is capable of numerous simultaneous scrubs against the order before it is delivered to the Omnibill system. Credit checks, credit card validations, address verifications, LERG lookups and local service eligibility analysis are performed prior to the acceptance of an order by the system. Business rules evaluate the information returned and make decisions. For example, consumers who receive marginal credit reports can be prompted to secure their accounts via credit card. Omnisignup can be used to establish new accounts or for existing customers to purchase additional goods and services. Product sets established in Omnisignup also can mirror those established in the Omnibill billing database. In addition, agent order entry is supported via Omniagent. This Web-based application enables resellers to establish a linkage between sellers, and the appropriate product and rate plans they are authorized to market. Omniagent enables the introduction of numerous new orders while performing all the account checks in Omnisignup.

"The advantage of this approach is that it prevents sales people from false expectations regarding accounts which are ultimately rejected," says Randy Minervino, Profitec’s vice president of sales and marketing. "Sellers know immediately the acceptance status of their orders and can concentrate their activities accordingly."

Like Omnisignup, Omniagent delivers load files of accepted orders for electronic corporation into the Omnibill database.
