Apple 3Q Earnings Far Exceed Analysts Forecasts
Apple Inc. (AAPL) reported one of its strongest quarters ever on Monday after Wall Street’s close.
Strong iPhone and Mac computer sales pushed Apple’s sales to $1.67 billion in the three months ended Sept. 26, up from $1.14 billion during the same period a year ago. Sales jumped to $9.87 billion, from $7.9 billion last year.
Analysts had been optimistic about Apple’s third-quarter performance – they’d projected revenue of $9.2 billion – but Apple far exceeded those forecasts.
Apple sold 3.05 million Macs, a boost helped by Apple’s introduction of its new Snow Leopard operating system, and 7.4 million iPhones.
