Angry Ex-Employees Disrupt Nortel Event in England

The venom among laid-off Nortel workers seems to be just as strong across the pond as it is in Canada and the U.S.

Some former employees rallied at a hotel in England last week to pressure the telco giant and professional services firm Ernst & Young to negotiate severance for the 229 laid-off workers, many of whom lost their jobs from a facility in Harlow, England.

The former employees claim some of them got almost no notice before being let go, but Ernst & Young says its actions were lawful.

Whether the protest worked or not is debatable. But they reportedly caused quite a scene when they walked into a Nortel event at a London hotel with signs. They set up on the sidewalk outside after they were kicked out.
