AireSpring, the cloud communications and managed connectivity provider, has hired Wendell Nelson, formerly with TailWind Voice & Data, as its senior vice president of wholesale sales.

In his new role, Nelson will lead AireSpring’s wholesale team to maximize opportunities with the company’s voice and data services, both domestically and internationally. Also, he will drive expansion into new markets and opportunities as he further develops the wholesale team.

Nelson tells Channel Partners he’ll be focused on “re-engaging existing customers and bringing on new customers.”

“AireSpring was always a customer of mine when I was at Global Capacity (acquired by GTT last year)  … and now I’m looking forward to joining the team and expanding their growth,” he said.

“We are very excited to welcome Wendell to the AireSpring family,” said Daniel Lonstein, AireSpring‘s president and chief revenue officer. “He brings just the right balance of experience in both wholesale voice and data. He will be developing and leading a growing team as we expand our presence in all aspects of wholesale. AireSpring’s wholesale value proposition is unique in that we have network to network interfaces (NNIs) with over 20 U.S. carriers enabling us to offer very competitive pricing on circuits. Additionally, our QuoteSpring online portal shows real-time pricing, connectivity options and lit building information across hundreds of thousands of business addresses affording both domestic and international customers and service providers the ability to maximize their options and pricing using a single interface and single U.S. provider.”

Throughout his 25-year telecom career, Nelson has built a “reputation for success” as an executive in corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, finance, engineering, sales and operations, according to AireSpring. Most recently, he served as vice president of corporate development at TailWind, assisting them with expanding their opportunities beyond national technical support and dispatch services, and into the connectivity business.

Prior to that, Nelson held the position of senior vice president of wholesale sales at Global Capacity, and held positions with MegaPath and Covad Communications.

AireSpring’s solutions are offered through a diverse network of channel partners that includes distributors, master agents, MSPs and VARs.
