Texas-based Advantage Telcom (Booth 426) is showing some of the new ADTRAN Inc. products it is distributing for use in service providers networks. ADTRAN makes products ranging from IP access routers and VPN devices to IADs and Ethernet switches.

Advantage offers several of ADTRANs new technologies. The first is the NetVanta 1000 Series family of fast Ethernet, power over Ethernet (PoE), Gigabit Ethernet switches and switch routers. The lineup features four all-in-one access platforms that combine switch, router, WAN interface, and firewall with optional VPN and dial backup, in a compact 1U chassis. The devices include management, Gigabit uplink capability, VLAN trunking and more, ADTRAN says.

Designed for VoIP, NetVanta 1000 Series switches and switch-routers offer PoE, quality of service, and management features such as LLDP and GVRP. ADTRAN says the products are designed for branch offices or multisite networks. Carriers also can use the NetVanta switch routers to overlay additional services without increasing capex.

Next, Advantage is distributing ADTRANs NetVanta 300, 3000, 4000 and 5000 Series routers, designed for DSL networks running ATM, frame relay, point-to-point networks, Internet access and VPNs. All models offer a standard feature set that includes QoS for VoIP applications, a built-in DSU/CSU and an optional IPSec VPN upgrade. The NetVanta routers are interoperable with other such standards-based devices so they fit into existing networks. ADTRAN does offer options for PPP or ISDN dial backup or broadband backup using ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+.

Among the other new ADTRAN products Advantage is exhibiting is the NetVanta 340, the first member of the NetVanta 300 Series of business-class ADSL2+ routers. It offers a single ADSL network interface and one Ethernet interface. It supports ADSL (Annex A), ADSL2, and ADSL2+ for extended reach with bandwidths as high as 25mbps.

There also is the new NetVanta 3000 Series platforms that offer modular chassis and support for line rates from 56k up to three T1s of bandwidth. This series supports a variety of interchangeable network interface modules and dial backup modules for added functionality.

Then, the NetVanta 4000 Series targets larger-bandwidth applications ranging from 56k up to eight T1s. It offers a single wide slot for Octal T1 applications and dual NIM slots that can accommodate a variety of modules providing added functionality. Its sister product, the NetVanta 5000 Series, is intended for larger corporate host site applications that need bandwidth up to dual T3s. The products come equipped with six wide module slots for interchangeable, unchannelized T3, HSSI or Octal T1 cards.

Finally, Advantage is showing ADTRANs NetVanta 2000 Series of VPN products, each of which includes IPSec VPN tunneling, access policies, stateful inspection firewall, cyber assault protection, network address translation, IP routing, and authenticated remote user access. The NetVanta VPN Client is a software-implemented VPN solution that also includes a firewall for laptops or personal computers targeting the mobile workforce.

All NetVanta products are powered by the ADTRAN Operating System, which gives users a built-in IP router, supporting routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and RIP.

Each of the ADTRAN devices is backed by unlimited telephone support, free software updates and an industry-leading warranty, ADTRAN says.
