Adelphia Communications Corp., the fifth-largest cableco in the country, is adding a second Gigabit Ethernet port to its Switch and Data PAIX 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch in Palo Alto, Calif.

Switch and Data’s PAIX services give ISPs and content providers access to more interconnection choices and networks, as well as additional peering and transit opportunities. Adelphia and Switch and Data say adding another Gigabit Ethernet port paves the way for the cable provider to support customer growth and enable 10GigE technology.

Switch and Data has facilities in 11 markets.
