8×8 on Tuesday launched Video MeetingsPro, a secure video conferencing solution.

The solution is powered by Jitsi, an open source community for secure video meetings technology sponsored by 8×8.

8×8 video meetings solutions run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, offering optimized cloud security and performance.

8×8’s John DeLozier

John DeLozier is 8×8’s senior vice president and global channel chief. Demand for secure video meetings technology is driving usage across all of 8×8’s video meetings solutions, he said.

The tally of 8×8’s monthly active users has reached nearly 12 million globally.

“This shift is offering new opportunities for partners as they help businesses and organizations move from legacy, on-premises systems to the cloud,” he said. “Secure video conferencing solutions, such as 8×8 Video MeetingsPro, will help 8×8’s partners showcase the benefits of the cloud with additional revenue opportunities to upgrade their customers to a complete, integrated cloud communications solution that enhances employee experience, collaboration and customer engagement.”

Video MeetingsPro includes password-protected and randomly named meetings, real-time closed-captioning with post-call transcription, and other features.

Jitsi is powering 8×8‘s entire video meetings platform, DeLozier said.

“Partners can provide their customers with secure video meetings, whether as part of our 8×8 cloud communications solution with voice, video meetings, chat and contact center or via our stand-alone video meetings service,” he said. “Also, with the Jitsi community recently publishing a specification for true end-to-end encrypted WebRTC-based video meetings … 8×8 is committed to productizing the technology into all of our video meetings solutions once available.”

This will provide 8×8 partners with a significant competitive advantage given heightened requirements for privacy and security, DeLozier said.

The COVID-19 pandemic and shelter-in-place orders created a “new business normal” for 8×8’s partners and their customers, he said. Access to secure video meetings has become a critical part of the day-to-day work of everyone globally, he said.

8×8’s video meetings solutions will be available in the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. The marketplace offers a user interface to browse and search for available applications and services. It also offers user ratings and reviews.

“Oracle Cloud delivers tremendous price performance for resource-intensive applications like video meetings,” said Vinay Kumar, Oracle’s vice president of product management. “As the world redefines working from home, video meetings are one of our fastest-growing workloads. We are excited to have 8×8 and the Jitsi open-source community on our cloud infrastructure platform.”
