Mitel has announced it will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Mavenir Systems (MVNR) common stock in a cash and stock deal valued at approximately $560 million. Upon closing of the transaction, Mavenir will become the mobile business division of Mitel, operating under the brand Mavenir. With the acquisition of Mavenir, Mitel said it expects to expand its total addressable market by approximately $14 billion by 2018.
AT&T and Microsoft (MSFT) unveiled AT&T Mobile Office Suite, a cloud-based, mobile collaboration solution. Mobile Office Suite is available in the United States and delivers "fast, easy and highly secure access to voice calls, email, calendars, instant messaging, HD video conferencing, desktop sharing, file sharing and more," according to AT&T. The telecommunications giant also said Mobile Office Suite provides businesses with "a simple, all-in-one bundle at a predictable monthly cost."
XO Communications has launched a unified communications (UC) suite for its Hosted PBX (HPBX) service that is designed to increase user productivity regardless of location. The Herndon, Virginia-based telecommunications provider also noted that its HPBX service now automatically includes the WorkTime mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application.
Cloud communications solutions provider Voxox has launched its Cloud Phone virtual PBX service for operators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Voxox said operators and OEMs now can white label or co-brand Cloud Phone services to better support small business customers.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded cloud-based UC solutions provider 8x8 a new patent based on its contact center technologies, including a web-based user interface for a networked contact center that displays information related to voice calls, chats and emails. To date, 8x8 has been issued 103 U.S. patents covering voice and video communications, signaling, processing and storage technologies.
