Seven Managed Services Blogs MSPmentor Didn't Write: May 21

The MSPmentor blog team was stretched in several directions this week. As usual, there's never enough time to write every blog entry that we wanted to generate. So, without delay, here are seven managed services blog entries  MSPmentor didn't publish for the week ending May 21, 2010.

7. Thinking Bigger: Cisco Systems and Verizon Business are teaming up to promote managed and cloud services. The effort, predictably, sounds like a big business push rather than an SMB effort.

6. Working the Room: ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini transformed from executive into photo journalist during the Google I/O conference, snapping pictures during the Google TV strategy announcement.

5. Hello Moto: Motorola announced two new managed services offerings, with an emphasis on managed WiFi networks. But I've got to wonder: Would a business want one company (Motorola) managing WiFi systems and a separate company (say, a networking giant or an MSP) managing wired infrastructure? Don't customers want one throat to choke?

4. New Name, Same Focus: MSPONE, a managed services specialist in India, has changed its name to MSP1 Software. The company continues to work closely with Level Platforms in the small and midsize business market.

3. Coopetition: Keep an eye on the ConnectWise-Kaseya relationship over the next few weeks, especially as the Kaseya User Conference approaches June 1 in Las Vegas. ConnectWise and Kaseya haven't always seen eye-to-eye, but for the good of their mutual customers I suspect we'll hear some progress from the duo at the conference.

2. Third Annual MSPmentor 250: The next survey, which tracks the managed services industry's top executives, entrepreneurs and experts, kicks off really soon. Stay tuned to the MSPmentor 250 center for a survey link soon. You'll also notice some changes to this year's survey...

1. Life-Work Balance: For a number of reasons this week, I'd like to point you all back to some important advice from HTG Peer Groups. It involves life-work balance. Give it a read then unplug from work for a bit. Just be sure to return to MSPmentor when you're back online.
