Paessler AG, which develops network monitoring software, has hired a North American Channel Chief -- Bill Brown -- and extended its monitoring software to smartphones and tablets running Google Android. Here's the update.
Based in Los Angeles and Nuremberg, Germany, Paessler claims its software runs in more than 70 percent of Fortune 100 companies. Paessler also claims to work closely with small office and home office customers, reaching more than 150,000 active installations worldwide. In an attempt to accelerate that momentum, Paessler has named Bill Brown as director of channel operations, North America.
According to a prepared statement:
"In his role, Bill will be working closely with Paessler's existing partners including CDW, SHI and Softchoice. In concert, he will be solidifying relationships with solution providers that cover a variety of industries including networking, virtualization, infrastructure, cloud services and data centers."Brown previously held channel-related management positions at Loftware (enterprise labeling solutions), Acronis (backup software) and VKernel (VMware capacity planning and monitoring).
MSPmentor will be watching to see if Brown reaches out to managed services providers.
Android, iPhone and iPad SupportMeanwhile, Paessler research and development continues. Just two months after adding a customizable billing application to its portfolio, Paessler has developed a way for Android tablet and smartphone users to access monitoring software on the go. It's called the the PRTGdroid and it's compatible with any Android smartphone or tablet on the market, Paessler claims. Paessler claims PRTGdroid is ideal for ISP's and MSP's because it has the capacity to check multiple PRTG installations through a single application. The application is free and is available through the Android Market.
Not long ago, Paessler also released the iPRTG for the iPhone and iPad users.
