Nimsoft: Managed Services Tools Gain Cloud Momentum

Question: Does Nimsoft make managed services software or cloud services software? Answer: It depends on your personal perspective. While the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) continues to attract MSPs, Nimsoft also is catching on with cloud services providers like Sungard. Specifically, Sungard selected NMS as the foundation for a new cloud services offering. Here's the update.

According to a prepared statement from Rob Walters, VP of product management at SunGard:

"Nimsoft intuitive APIs enable us to provide comprehensive, proactive managed services and allow us to deploy customized monitoring policies on the fly. By incorporating NMS in our cloud offering, we can give clients real-time insight into what's happening in their IT environments, while proactively mitigating potential problems and delivering higher availability of business-critical services."
SunGard is a significant win for Nimsoft. Indeed, SunGard's annual revenues top $5 billion and the company is ranked No. 380 on the Fortune 500 list. Moreover, the company claims to be the largest privately held business software and IT services company.

Acquired by CA Technologies in March 2010, Nimsoft has been quick to protect its business freedom within the CA empire. While many software companies focus on small MSPs, Nimsoft has been targeting more of the mid-market of MSPs. And now, apparently, Nimsoft is catching on with cloud-centric projects -- a trend we'll be tracking on MSPmentor's sister site, Talkin' Cloud.
