Cloud Disaster Recovery: Doyenz CEO Confirms Layoffs

Doyenz, which focuses on cloud-based disaster recovery and virtualization, has laid off some staff members, according to GeekWire. Rumors of Doyenz staff cuts have been circulating for a few weeks, but the number of cuts has not been disclosed publicly.

According to a GeekWire report, Founder Ashutosh Tiwary said:  “We had to reduce staff and to align with our business priorities, and we still have a substantial though smaller team that will continue to provide services to our substantial customer base."

Doyenz has worked closely with VARs and MSPs over the past three years or so. The company originally focused on helping MSPs to virtualize customer networks in the cloud to test upgrade scenarios prior to production deployments. More recently Doyenz has helped MSPs with backup and disaster recovery (BDR) capabilities, while mixing in the cloud-based virtualization messaging.

Doyenz earlier this year the opening of a Boston office. MSPmentor is checking in with the company for more updates.

While the overall cloud storage and BDR market remains healthy, MSPmentor did predict a BDR shakeout about a year ago, noting that there were too many cloud storage companies chasing too few MSPs.
