Zetta.net has launched Zetta DataProtect 4.7, a new version of its local and cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and archiving solution designed to improve backup speeds, especially for large data sets, without impacting network performance. The company says the update provides a direct-to-cloud backup speed 13x faster than appliance cloud backup speeds and 2.5x faster than backups performed locally to backup appliances.

Zetta.net says those speeds have been validated by a third-party benchmark test. The update lets organizations back up simultaneously to local devices and the cloud with speeds that surpass traditional LAN backup to local devices or hard disk, according to Zetta.net.

“For existing customers, this version will improve Zetta partners’ customer data availability, and ultimately, their satisfaction because they will be able to monitor and manage their customers’ backup and DR jobs more proactively, quickly and effectively,” Art Ledbetter, Zetta.net’s director of channels, told MSPmentor.

Ledbetter also noted that MSPs can leverage Zetta DataProtect 4.7 “to capture larger customers with a robust solution that is enterprise-grade at a lower cost of service for increased revenue and profitability.”

Zetta DataProtect 4.7 is generally available now.

Zetta.net said that the new update enables organizations to speed the backup of large data sets. One customer, Erick Panger, director of IT for TruPosition said that his company was able to “get 70TB to Zetta.net’s cloud quickly without bringing our  network to a halt.” Zetta.net said those speeds for large data sets are possible due to the use of WAN acceleration technologies.

Zetta.net momentum

Zetta.net grew its MSP partner network by 431 percent last year, and Ledbetter attributed the network’s growth to the speed, performance and simplicity of his company’s cloud BDR solution.

“With WAN-optimized technologies built-in [to the solution], MSPs can back up and recover their customers’ data quickly,” he said. “[And] there’s no appliance required, which means there’s no startup cost.”
