World Backup Day: 3 BDR Tips to Share With Customers
World Backup Day is here, and now is a perfect time for managed service providers (MSPs) to help customers review their backup and disaster recovery (BDR) strategies.
The future looks bright for MSPs that offer BDR services; Research and Markets is predicting this sector will expand at a 12.47 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2014 and 2019, which could create new revenue opportunities for MSPs worldwide.
How can MSPs help customers back up their sensitive data? Here are three BDR tips that service providers can share with their customers on World Backup Day:
- Educate your customers about BDR – Many users of popular cloud backup solutions actually have no idea where their backups are being stored, according to cloud backup and file management services provider CloudBerry Lab. Alleviate your customers’ BDR concerns by explaining where their data is being stored and providing details about your security measures.
- Help each customer make a BDR checklist – Are your customers prepared for IT outages? A customer who creates a BDR checklist can prepare for a disaster before it strikes. For example, BDR solutions provider Datto provides a sample checklist for MSPs and their customers here.
- Discuss each customer’s storage options – “Talk to your customers about storage,” Dave Maffei, vice president of global channel sales at cloud backup services provider Carbonite (CARB), told MSPmentor. “If they have a limited amount of storage – either on their local device if they have a hybrid setup, or in their quota in the cloud – make sure there is ample room for backups to continue.”
MSPs can use World Backup Day to raise awareness about the importance of BDR solutions, and ultimately, ensure their customers’ sensitive information is safe at all times.
