Quorum recently hired former Symantec Vice President of Engineering Gaurav Khanna as the company's new vice president of products.

Recovery and continuity provider Quorum has tapped former Symantec (SYMC) Vice President of Engineering Gaurav Khanna as the company's new vice president of products to assist Quorum drive new products to the disaster recovery (DR) market.

Khanna's main role will  on building new DR products for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and driving innovative solutions to the DR market in general.

As vice president of engineering at Symantec, Khanna led product product development for the company's data protection products, NetBackup, and backup appliances. Earlier in his career with Symantec, he assisted with growing cloud and purpose-built appliance products for backup and information management.

Khanna focused on product development, architecture, and implementation at Nortel and Tata Consultancy Services prior to Symantec.

Quorum CEO Larry Lang said in his prepared remarks that the company has a growing team dedicated to addressing DR issues for SMBs.

"The addition of industry experts like Gaurav [Khanna] and our latest upgrade present additional compelling reasons for businesses to abandon tape and disk backup, or cloud backup alone, and trust Quorum to ensure one-click recovery of their data, applications and systems in minutes," he said.

Quorum's latest version of its DR solution added support for Microsoft (MSFT) Windows Server 2012, Exchange Server 2013 and SQL Server 2012, as well as 50 additional usability enhancements, focusing on performance for repository and data path.
