In mid-July 2011 we hinted that Tasktop Technologies and Hewlett-Packard (HP) were working on a range of application lifecycle management solutions. More recently, Tasktop released Tasktop Sync — which allows IT organizations to synchronize their existing ALM servers. ITasktop Technologies CEO and Co-Founder Mik Kersten described the strategy to me.

“Over the decade we’ve seen open source software (OSS) tools rise and take the market lead,” said Kersten, who blogged about the release of Tasktop sync on on Aug. 8. “There’s now a lot of diversity in the ALM space among vendors. It’s a disaster when all of your tools are disconnected.” So Tasktop Sync is meant to bridge the disconnect. It connects the developers, testers and managers of the applications. Here are some of Tasktop Sync’s main features, according to Tasktop:

“There’s been lots of interest in the tool over the past year,” Kersten said. “We’re giving a window to everything developers, testers and managers touch.” The Tasktop Sync will have far-reaching effects, as Tasktop has some major vendor contracts with HP, IBM and Microsoft, among others.
