Microsoft, Ingram Micro Expand Software+Service Relationship

Ingram Micro continues to push deeper into the software as a service (SaaS) market. Nearly 1,000 managed service providers already leverage Ingram Micro Seismic — a portfolio of managed services and SaaS offerings. Now, Ingram and Microsoft have announced a broader software+service initiative for Ingram’s US and Canadian partners.

According to an Ingram spokeswoman,  the SaaS relationship:

“enables Solution Providers in the US, as well as Canada, to license a wide range of Microsoft products and platforms through Ingram Micro on a monthly basis through a dedicated or shared hosting environment.”

In other words, “solution providers can now buy Microsoft products and platforms from Ingram Micro as a hosted solution to deliver SaaS.”

Ingram’s portfolio of SaaS and MSP offerings has grown steadily this year. Roughly 1,000 MSPs working with the Ingram Micro Seismic team use a mix of remote management tools and SaaS applications. In April 2008, the Seismic team announced plans to offer MSPs hosted versions of Microsoft Exchange Server, SharePoint and Dynamics CRM.

But this new Software+Service announcement with Microsoft sounds like a broader SaaS effort — availble to all Ingram partners in the US and Canada, effectively pushing beyond the core Ingram Micro Seismic audience.
