JAJAH Launches Managed Voice Service
Smith on VoIP, one of my favorite blogs, has an interesting piece today about JAJAH — a fast-growing “Voice 2.0” company that just signed up its 10 millionth customer. Now, according to Smith on VoIP, JAJAH is launching JAJAH Managed Services, positioned as:
“a turnkey telephony service, with everything from network services to billing incorporated in the package.” More importantly, however, Yahoo! will be utilizing the JAJAH platform to provide voice services for their 97 million Yahoo IM users.
For managed service providers, JAJAH represents the latest opportunity to embrace and extend a telephony platform with your own custom code.
JAJAH describes itself in the following way (pardon some of the marketing hype):
Leveraging a universal open telecommunications platform, JAJAH’s managed services allow mobile operators, landline carriers, cable companies, technology companies and other businesses to adopt its voice solutions with minimal investment and time to market. The leading global IP telephony company is headquartered in Mountain View, California.
I think JAJAH is part of a far bigger trend: The melding of managed services with VoIP and unified communications. Some solutions providers, such as Bluewater Communications Group, are building network operation centers of their own to manage unified communications (for more details, listen to our April 24, 2008 podcast with Bluewater CEO Bob Cagnazzi).
Other solutions providers are working closely with emerging open source IP PBX services and Asterisk-centric platforms, including an increasingly popular option from Fonality.
The message to MSPs, ultimately, is clear: Managed voice services have gained critical mass.
