IndependenceIT, Verio Offer DaaS to SMBs
Verio has selected IndependenceIT to offer its cloud workspace suite as a desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) application for the small- and medium-business (SMB) space. The licensing agreement will allow Verio to leverage IndependenceIT’s Cloud Workspace Suite to enable application and DaaS on a subscription basis via the company’s IT service platform.
“We’ve always taken a focus on making things very seamless and easy not only for the end user but also [for the] IT administrator, and I think that’s illustrated here with the announcement with Verio … and them choosing us over the other available solutions that are on the market,” said Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT, in an interview with The VAR Guy.
Verio said the licensing agreement will allow it to manage service delivery though its existing management tools while integrating and automating desktop and application provisioning, deployment and support functions, according to the press release.
“IndependenceIT’s Cloud Workspace provides a powerful and extensible desktop-as-a-service platform for delivery of applications and full-featured desktop solutions,” said Hideyuki Yamasawa, president and CEO of Verio, in a prepared statement. “Cloud Workspace’s API will allow us to deliver strategic business solutions as a service, seamlessly integrated with our advanced management system and existing service portfolio.”
What differentiates IndependenceIT’s cloud workspace suite from the competition, Bostock said, is it doesn’t require a complex setup process to function. While similar services are more like a traditional kit car, which requires assembly, IndependenceIT users are able to deploy its solution without any complicated engineering. The amount of self-service features built into the platform, which will allow end users to manage the environment via a mobile device, impressed Verio, he added.
“From our perspective, it’s very hard to retain high-level engineers that would be capable and certified in both Citrix and VMware … and it's very expensive. We automate a lot of functions that are manually done … therefore giving a much more efficient delivery for Verio and, in this case, other partners,” Bostock said. “Our platform can be up and running within a day. For the end user it’s very, very simple and efficient, never mind for the partner to manage.”
