HP Names Channel Leaders for PCs, Printers and U.S. SMB

  • Written by The VAR Guy 1
  • April 26, 2012
Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) has updated its channel leadership. Mike Parrottino (pictured) is channel chief for the new HP Printing & Personal Systems (PPS) organization. Scott Dunsire now leads HP's U.S. SMB/Channel sales.

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) has updated its channel leadership. Mike Parrottino (pictured) is channel chief for the new HP Printing & Personal Systems (PPS) organization. Scott Dunsire now leads HP’s U.S. SMB/Channel sales. And former HP Channel Chief Stephen DiFranco’s new position at HP will be announced “in the near future,” according to a memo from HP to partners. Here’s the update…

The partner memo was from two key HP leaders:

  • John Solomon, SVP & GM, Americas, Printing & Personal Systems (Parrottino reports to Solomon)
  • Lynn Pendergrass, SVP & GM, U.S. Printing & Personal Systems (Dunsire reports to Pendergrass)

In the memo, Solomon and Pendergrass stated:

“This simplified organizational structure will allow us to leverage our strengths across these two complementary businesses, which will help make you more successful and better able to win against your competition.  And, our new channel leadership structure will allow us to focus in key areas required to properly support our channel, making it easier for you to work with HP.”

The new channel leadership emerges shortly after HP announced that it would reorganize, putting printers and PCs under a single roof. Our own Elliot Markowitz offered additional analysis, expressing some skepticism about the “new” HP — especially amid all the executive changes in recent years.

Signs of HP Progress

Still, The VAR Guy is impressed by three recent HP traits:

  • No more public debates: During most of 2011, the future of HP was debated publicly, with HP board leaks spilling out into the mainstream media. When Meg Whitman arrived as HP CEO, the leaks stopped.
  • More consistent communications: When HP announced plans to bring printers and PCs under one roof, the company promised partner updates soon. Fast forward to the present, and the new channel leadership is in place.
  • Marrying the cloud with the channel: The recent HP Converged Cloud strategy includes a channel partner strategy.  Sorawar ‘Biri’ Singh, senior VP and GM of HP Cloud Services, explained portions of the strategy during the OpenStack conference last week in San Francisco.

So where do we go from here? The VAR Guy will be watching — especially as HP faces market share competition from Lenovo, while Dell diversifies through numerous acquisitions.

Hewlett Packard is one of the known and popular brands which is producing printers worldwide. This brand has also got many other products like computers, laptops. Now the group is thinking to combine PC and Printers under a single roof. This will surely help others to recognize many other opportunity of this benefit.
