Former Intronis CEO Becomes a Crowdfunding Dreamer
Former CEO of cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) provider Intronis Kent Plunkett has a new project: crowdfunding.
Plunket is CEO of social savings platform DreamFund, where "dreamers gather the financial fuel for their dream by organizing support from their social networks, friends and family," according to the new company's website.
"Crowdfunding platforms raised $2.7 billion and successfully funded more than 1 million campaigns in 2012, according to a survey published by Massolution, a crowdfunding research firm," Plunkett told MSPmentor in an interview. "They forecast an 81 percent increase in global crowdfunding volumes in 2013, to $5.1 billion."
While Plunkett admits that this move doesn't affect managed services providers (MSPs) directly, he does note that DreamFund will "help any individuals who work at any MSP achieve their personal dreams."
Each dream is linked to a savings account that is FDIC insured for protection and can earn interest.
