EVault 7 Backup and Recovery Appliances Support Hybrid Cloud

Cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) provider EVault, Inc. has released the new EVault 7 backup appliances, offering users the benefits of the cloud while retaining on-site control of data and operation. These devices are built with pre-configured hardware, storage and software designed for cloud hybrid data protection. Here are the details.

EVault, a Seagate Company (NASDAQ:STX), has released two new appliances: EVault Plug-n-Protect, an all-in-one appliance with customizable cloud replication, and EVault Express Recovery Appliance, which adds a local cache to cloud backups to speed data recovery. Each device has its own unique set of features:

  • EVault Plug-n-Protect — EVault Plug-n-Protect is an all-in-one backup and recovery appliance. It consists of preconfigured hardware, software and storage for on-premise data protection. The appliance comes packaged with 3 TB, 6 TB or 12 TB of usable capacity. Standalone models can be purchased for replication to the EVault Cloud or as paired machines for private cloud replication.

  • EVault Express Recovery Appliance — EVault Express Recovery Appliance is a local backup and recovery appliance for EVault SaaS customers. On-site backup data is maintained through the appliance and is then automatically replicated the EVault cloud. EVault Express Recovery Appliance models can be purchased with 1 TB, 3 TB or 6 TB of usable capacity, or they can be purchased and deployed as a virtualized storage appliance.

“Mid market customers have long accepted they cannot have a backup and recovery solution that is failproof, scalable and easy to manage within their budget,” said EVault Server Backup and Archiving Products Vice President Daniel Bankert, in a statement. “EVault 7 Appliances are changing the game by giving IT fast, local access to their data, plus offsite protection with a copy in the Cloud, at no-brainer prices.”

Pricing
Through March 29, 2013 the EVault Plug-n-Protect 6 TB model is available for an MSRP of US$19,995, plus standard support and maintenance. This is being offered as introductory promotional pricing.

According to the company, more than 38,000 companies rely on EVault cloud-connected backup and recovery services. EVault released a survey on inadequate data backup and bring your own device (BYOD) back in February.
